WHAT DID YOUR COLLEGE MAJOR DO FOR YOU?

Mike, Wesleyan University '99
Q: What was your major in college?
A: Economics.
Q: Why did you choose it as your major?
A: It eemed right at the time--it was fun and I was good at it.
Q: Were you happy with your choice?
A: It's always easy to look back and say you would have done things differently. I have no regrets, but if I could do another four years of college I definitely would not study Econ.
Q: What did you end up doing after graduation?
A: Teaching adult literacy and performing music.
Q: Did your major help you or hurt you in your search for a job?
A: Neither--it has been largely irrelevant.
Q: Did your major give you the skills to succeed at your first job?
A: I believe Wesleyan in general gave me skills I needed to succeed. I'm not sure
anything specific in my major was a big contributing factor.
